FORMATION OF THE DOMESTIC MARKET OF LIVESTOCK PRODUCTS UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION
Abstract
Market of livestock products is a significant component of the agricultural market of the country. Cattle breeding, which is the main branch of meat and milk production, plays a key role in meeting the needs of population in the high-calorie products and is important in forming the food security of the country. It is noted that in 2016 in Ukraine the beef and veal market as well as market of milk and dairy products met the needs of domestic consumers at the level of 25 and 55% respectively according to physiologically substantiated norms. A considerable reduction in consuming livestock products in the country is determined by a sharp decrease of their production volumes, low buying capacity of a large part of the population, relatively limited capacity of the internal market and other factors. On the basis of the statistical data, the analysis of the balance between the inflow and use of livestock products, in particular, beef, veal, milk and dairy products in Ukraine in recent years is carried out. This analysis allowed to identify the trends regarding the change of indicators of production and consumption, import and export of certain types of products, and also to bring to light a number of problems. It is outlined that after acquiring the form of the Association with the EU and moving towards the Free Trade Zone since January 1, 2016, Ukraine needs to study a range of political, trade, and economic issues that are primarily related to the problems of ecological and food security. Formation of the domestic market of livestock products under the conditions of European integration requires Ukraine to work out new approaches to the strategy of developing the agricultural sector aimed at improving the legislation basis and bringing it to the compliance with the global norms of international trade, to restructure the economic relationships in the market, to ensure food security of the state, to increase the competitive ability of agricultural products both in the internal and external markets
