THE THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL RURAL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The article describes the role of transformation processes that take place in the country, constantly require improvement and active search for new ways to ensure stable, economically sound growth and achieve sustainable development on this basis. It also reveals the theoretical basis of the multifunctional concept as a promising model of rural development of Ukraine at the present stage. The author substantiates the importance of rural areas and shows the relationship between their main functions. The article focuses on the specifics of agriculture. It is multifunctional and requires a fundamentally new approach to the development of rural areas on the basis of a complex and multifaceted socio-ecological and economic system. The author proved that the strategic goal of economic and social rural policy should be to ensure a comprehensive, multi-functional development of rural areas. It provides for the growth of the role of rural areas as a spatial base for agricultural production, as well as a favorable and environmentally safe environment for the population. The article describes the elements of rural areas, justifies their functions and the relationship between them. The author described the importance of the program of revival of the peasant as the owner of the earth, the carrier of morality and national culture. He also showed the process of formation of an appropriate organizational and economic mechanism for the implementation of the strategy of sustainable development. It should be accompanied by monitoring of the needs of rural residents and the existing production and resource base, human potential, financial self-sufficiency, innovation and investment opportunities, industry orientation and settlement network from the perspective of multifunctional rural development
