THE INFLUENCE of «WATER-BLOOM» PROCESSES WITH PARTICIPATION of DIATOMACEOUS ALGAE ON CHLOROFORM CONTENT In DRINKING-WATER
Abstract
Active development of phytoplankton in reservoirs worsens quality of water. It causes not only the unpleasant smell and taste but also the selection of poisonous metabolites of algae in water. As known, the main reason of «water-bloom» is entering of biogens in water. The role of diatomaceous algae in water ecosystems is analyzed in the article and the features of seasonal vibrations of their quantity is determined in a water intake "Vidsichne" of the Teteriv river. An influence of vital functions of algae groups on changing of chloroform content in drinking-water on KP "Zhytomyrvodokanal" is shown. The individual phytoplankton forms of diatomaceous algae were characterized with active development in spring and autumn months during a year (from April till May and from Ocober till December). "Water-bloom" in the water intake contributed to the decline of DO (dissolved oxygen) concentration in water. The most concentration of chloroform in drinking-water contemporized with diatomaceous algae destruction as a result of the beginning of blue-green algae mass reproduction in the water intake
